Day trip

Awaken the adventurer in you, as you dip your oars for a trip down the Umzimkhulu River. The experience begins at Oribi Gorge Hotel at 08h00, with an introduction to your guide and trip leader, followed by a safety briefing. You will then be driven down a 4×4 trail to the “put-in point” on the Umzimkhulu River (15 mins). After braving the rapids (grades 2 to 4, depending on the river conditions) you will be collected and returned to the Hotel. The trip takes 2 to 4 hours (On-water time), depending on the river level. The rate includes refreshments (juice/water & chocolate) on the river. Lunch can be ordered from the sumptuous a la Carte menu, back at the Hotel. Braai and Buffet menus are available for groups – this can be arranged with the Hotel.

Bookings: Min: 4 people, Max: 20 people

Two-day trip

Day 1: Meet up at Oribi Gorge Hotel at 08h00, where you will be given a safety briefing by your trip

leader. You can hand over all your camping gear, which will later be delivered to the campsite. The drive upriver to the “put-in” point takes about 30 mins. Lunch is provided on the river. After a funfilled day of rafting you get to set up camp by the riverside, then enjoy a real South African braai followed by roasted marshmallows. After a good night’s rest and a hearty breakfast you can look forward to another half day of rafting (4 to 6 hours), before being collected and dropped back at Oribi Gorge Hotel (where your camping gear will be waiting for you). Should you wish to have lunch, this can be arranged with the Hotel.

Hotel accommodation can be arranged for non-campers. Kindly contact us for a quotation.
